Leinster Adult Club Hurling League 2019
This year’s Leinster G.A.A. Adult Club Hurling League will follow the same format as last year’s competition. With 62 teams entered last year it proved a very successful competition with teams very satisfied with the competitiveness of the games. Taking into account all the recent research of what Club players would like, there is one slight change to last year’s format in that all Finals are now fixed for the weekend of the 7th-9th of June. This should give more certainty to Clubs entering and we can plan towards a definite date.
In recent years a number of clubs have seen the merit in entering this competition and reaped the benefits of having their players playing more hurling during the year when it came to the latter stages of their internal competitions. Recent Leinster League competitors such as Kilcormac Killoughey, Ballyboden St Enda’s, Oulart the Ballagh and Camross to name but a few, have had very successful seasons which started with a good run in the Leinster League.
Format:
All Adult Clubs (Junior, Intermediate and Senior) are welcome to enter this competition. Every effort will be made to provide “meaningful” games for all entrants. We will also make every effort to keep the distances that teams will be expected to travel to a minimum.
Clubs are required to pay a deposit of €300.00 to enter the competition, which is refundable if the club completes all its games in the competition. All cheques must be dated the 1st of February 2019.
Ideally teams will be in groups of four, guaranteeing each team three games.
There will be a maximum of 16 teams in each division, with the number of divisions depending on the uptake from the Clubs.
Timeline:
All games must be played as per the Official Fixture. If clubs are unable to fulfill their fixture and subsequently agree with their opponents to change, then the game takes on the status of a challenge game and will no longer involve the Leinster Council. As a challenge game permission will have to be received from the respective County Secretary.
The result, however, can be accepted for the Club league, provided the game is played prior to the concluding round of the League stages of the competition. Please note that in this instance the responsibility of appointing a referee will be that of the “home Club” involved. If the game remains un-played the Club who could not fulfill the original fixture will forfeit the competition points and may lose their entry deposit.
The competition organisers must be informed of proposed changes prior to all arrangements being completed and approved.
The Competition is governed by the Leinster C.C.C. and will be run in accordance with regulations as set out by the aforementioned C.C.C. All decisions made by Leinster C.C.C. are final.
All competition queries must be submitted via e-mail to info.leinster@gaa.ie. by the Club Secretary.
