Naas March On In Br Bosco Cup
Yesterday’s preliminary quarter final of the Leinster Colleges Senior Football ‘A’ Br Bosco Cup was played between Naas CBS and Coláiste Mhuire Mullingar in ideal conditions at the Kildare GAA Centre of Excellence in Hawkfield, Newbridge. The game was was a competitive, keenly contested affair between two well prepared teams.
The match was a cagey affair to begin with both sides affording little opportunity to their opponents. Naas led at half time on a score of 0.08 to 0.05.
Mullingar really brought the game to Naas in the second half and came within one point having converted an excellently taken penalty. Naas replied with a goal of their own almost immediately afterwards and kicked for home after that, eventually winning on a score line of 1.16 to 1.09. The scoreline does not fairly reflect Mullingar’s fine performance as Naas kicked the last few scores of the game to seal a good win after a testing knock out match.
Best for Mullingar were Darren McWade at fullback, midfielders Jason McKeon and Josh Murtagh and forwards Sean Leech and Danny McCartan. Naas are a well balanced side with Daire Guerin at midfield and Sean Broderick and Elliot Beirne performing best of the forwards.
