Meet The Speaker – Paul Rouse
On Saturday 8th of June the TURAS Club Conference will take place in DCU St Pats Campus. Ahead of it we take a close look at the speaker line up. Next up is GAA Historian and lecturer Paul Rouse.
Paul is a Professor at University College Dublin, where his main research interest lies in the history of sport. His expertise extends to popular culture, the history of agriculture, and Irish history in general. Paul has made significant contributions to public history projects, including the GAA Oral History Project, which is the largest oral history project undertaken by any sporting organisation in the world
At the conference, Paul will delve into the history of Gaelic Games as a whole, specifically focusing on its roots in clubs and the profound impact it has on communities and individuals. His presentation will explore how the GAA has shaped Irish identity and culture through its storied past and ongoing influence in sports and community life.
