Kilkenny CBS Claim Senior “A” Hurling League Title
Today Kilkenny CBS claimed the first silverware of this years Senior “A” Hurling calendar when they overcame St Peter’s College, in Dicksboro.
Kilkenny CBS 3-20 St Peter’s College 1-16
The City side started the brighter and had two goals bagged before the opening water break thanks to the sharp shooting Cillian Hackett. St Peter’s were struggling to get to grips with a particularly strong CBS half back line, even so they battled hard and thanks to some fines scores managed to go into the break only trailing by 3 on a scoreline of 2-08 to 0-11.
An early second half blitz from the visitors looked like it might set them on their way. However, CBS regained their foothold through great play from captain Gearóid Dunne and his lieutenants on either side of Nolan and Phelan. Having weathered this early storm the Kilkenny men would go on to score a third goal. This would be the final nail in the coffin and despite a late goal from St Peter’s through Ollie Murphy, they would ultimately prevailed on a final score of 3-20 to 1-16.
Both sides now look ahead to the serious business of the Corn Ui Dhuill Championship. CBS face a trip to reigning champions Coláiste Eoin, while St Peter’s look ahead to a clash with St Kieran’s later this month.
