Ballyboden host Clonkill
Sunday see’s the AIB Leinster Senior Hurling Championship kick into full gear with Parnell Park hosting the clash of Dublin Champions Ballyboden St. Endas and Westmeath representatives Clonkill.
Ballyboden St Endas arrive having had to play a 2nd decider against fierce rivals Kilmacud Crokes. Extra Time the first day out could not separate the sides so last Sunday saw Parnell Park repeat the fixture. The won out by 3 points in the end with strong showings from star men Paul Ryan and the evergreen Conal Keaney proving vital. They will be hoping that two hard battles can stand them in good stead for the arrival of Clonkill on Sunday.
Clonkill will be hoping that they can draw on the experience of winning the Leinster Intermediate title in 07 as they look to topple the odds on favorites. Last weekend saw the Westmeath side claim their 15th ever county title with victory over Raharney by a solitary score. A replay looked all but on the cards however Rahareny marksman Ciaran Doyle failed to find the target with a late free from long range. Clonkill held out to win by 1-13 to 2-09. they will be hoping that similar performances from captain Brendan Murtagh, Luke Loughlin and Eoin Price can see them through to a Semi Final clash with the winners of Coolderry of Offaly and Mount Leinster Rangers of Carlow.
