Junior & Intermediate Club Championships Up and Running

Today was a busy day in both the AIB Leinster GAA Junior & Intermediate Club Championships.

Intermediate Football

Round 1 of the Intermediate Football Championship saw big wins across the board. Clara were far to strong for St Brigids Killashee were and set the bar high for the rest of the competition, bagging 6 goals on their way to a 6-10 to 0-07. Laois side Park Ratheniska overcame neighbours Naomh Eoin by a total of 13 points. With Ratheniska kicking some fine scores along the way. The final game in Round 1 saw Kilcock overcome Wicklows An Tochar. The Kildare men ran out convincing winners on a score line of 0-15 to 0-07.

Junior Football 

There was also big wins across the board in the AIB Leinster Club Junior Football Championship. First up Clonbullogue saw off the challenge of Legan Sarsfields, kicking 3 goals on the way to a 3-18 to 1-08 win. Longfords Glen Emmett’s had 9 points to spare when they dispatched of St Vincent’s 2-13 to 0-10. Finally Kilcullen were much too good for Barndarrig of Wicklow winning out 2-11 to 0-05. The final game of Round 1 will take place next weekend when Europ Champions Amsterdam take on the newly crowned Dublin Champions.

Intermediate Hurling

The Intermediate Hurling Championship also kicked off yesterday with Bray Emmett’s seeing off Naomh Brid 0-18 to 0-08. Then arguably the tie of the day came next. Ballinakill of Laois had just the minimum to spare if Westmeath’s Cullion 3-12 to 3-11. Next up for both are clashes with Glenmore and Oylegate Glenbrien.

Junior Hurling 

The Junior Hurling Championship produced two games of very varying stories. Tara Rocks of Wexford put up what may be a record score of 10-35 on their way to beating Arklow Rock Parnells. While the second game of the Round saw St Oliver Plunketts overcome St Fechins by just 2 points on a score line of 2-15 to 1-16.
