January 2nd, 2018

THRILLING DRAWS IN TOP OIL LEINSTER SCHOOLS SENIOR A CHAMPIONSHIPS

The stage is set for a thrilling finale in the Top Oil Leinster Schools Senior A Football and Hurling championships after several big guns were put on a collision course in the draws held before Christmas.

In the Br Bosco Cup football quarter final draw the holders St Peter’s of Wexford will meet a Colaiste Eoin side who feature the influence of several south Dublin clubs in their ranks.

Scoil Aodhain from Whitehall in Dublin have enjoyed some blistering good form in the competition and will now meet a Marist AthlOne side who have also progressed steadily.

Naas CBS, who are back in the A championship after a lengthy gap, defeated a fancied Edenderry and drew with Good Counsel. They meet a Knockbeg side now who emerged from a tough group that included St Pat’s of Navan and Moate.

Louth Schools, whom draw heavily from the Ardee area, meet an Offaly schools side appearing in A football for the first time.

The matches will be played on Saturday January 20 with the semi-finals on February 17.

In the Doyle Cup senior A hurling, the heavyweights Kilkenny CBS and St Kieran’s College have been drawn to face each other in the pick of the second round games in the Winners Section.

Elsewhere, Dublin North meet the winners of the Birr v Borris clash. The two winners from these games on January 10 advance to the semi-finals with the losers heading into quarter finals.

In the Losers Section also down for January 10, Castlecomer play the losers of Birr v Borris. St Peter’s of Wexford have an all Model County date with Good Counsel.
